Coney Island Mermaid Parade 2011 (220 pictures)

Pictures from the 29th Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Taken on June 18, 2011. The weather was lovely. I used my external flash. When it was a little overcast they produced high quality pictures. I took 314 pictures. 220 made it here. This year they let the marchers off too quickly and didn't space their starts. The parade bunched up when they reached the judging stand and caused long delays further back along the parade route. I had the classic cars in front of me for almost an hour. Coney Island Mermaid Parade 2010 (273 pictures)

Pictures from the 28th Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Taken on June 19, 2010. An underlying theme this year was the BP oil spill in the Gulf. I was not on the best side of the street, plus I played by the rules and stayed behind the barricades. Many non-press photographers didn't. Also see prior parades. Pictures from the 27th Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Taken on June 20, 2009. It rained for the first half of the parade. The turnout was light. They almost doubled the route length. See all my Mermaid Parade Pictures.

Pictures from the 25th Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Taken on June 23, 2007. The weather was perfect. The parade was promoted on the radio and in the newspapers. I estimate the spectator turnout was four times the year before. See all my Mermaid Parade Pictures.

Coney Island Mermaid Parade 2006 (263 pictures)

Pictures from the 24th Annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. Taken on June 24, 2006. The rain stopped before the parade. There were a few drops during the parade, and then just after the March to the Sea was over it poured. This was the first parade with my new camera. I had the equivalent of a 27-300 zoom lens.
